I never thought this day would come

Tonight I made a dinner that Adam hated so much he couldn’t eat it. You see, I’m not a bad cook, nothing special, but I can cook. So can Adam. Adam generally has no problem eating whatever is put in front of him. The only thing he has expressed he wont eat is shellfish.

Well tonight I realized that he won’t eat, well, pretty much any fish at all. The reason this is strange is because Adam and I used to fish quite regularly, and while sometimes they weren’t his favorite meals, he never complained. He’s even one to occasionally opt for the Salmon on a wedding menu. So tonight I decided to break out Gorton’s Lemon Pepper Fillets. (Don’t laugh, these are actually really quick and healthy and to me delicious) They’re all pre-seasoned and cut to the perfect, 3.5 oz portion, and you get 17 grams of protein in only 100 calories of fish! I trust the Gorton’s Fisherman…but apparently Adam doesn’t. So this meal included a nice garden salad and spaghetti squash (one of my favorite vegetable sides). Adam took one bite of the fish, then I noticed him dig into the squash and salad. Eventually I asked “are you going to eat any of that fish?” To which he said, "no, I don’t like it." At first I was mad, but then I realized all I did was take it out of the freezer and put it in the oven, so I got over being mad and I put a roll in the toaster for Adam so he would get a little more than just salad and squash for dinner.

Funny how taste buds change over time. I’m kind of bummed. I really want to try and eat fish at least once a week. But apparently my husband won’t eat it. I guess I can take my Gorton’s to work and have it for lunch, but I don’t want to be that person who stinks up the whole office. Oh well.

In other news we’re still plugging away at the bathroom and very thankful for a couple people who have been giving Adam great support. Pics soon.

Whitney, this is so funny! (And, I'm so glad you did a blog update)! :-) I feel exactly the same way - I'd love to have fish at least once or twice a week, and Tony completely refuses any kind of seafood. It's terrible. I've tried to find a few ways around it though...In the summer when we BBQ burgers, I'll get beef burgers for him and salmon burgers for me from TJ's. I also buy the wild Alaska salmon in a can from costco - it is so amazingly good. I'll make salmon patties that are also pretty healthy. If I'm marinating chicken for Tony, I'll use some of the same marinade and make myself skewers of shrimp or something. I need to explore more ideas though. The only success I've had with Tony eating fish is when I made salmon (for company), and served it to him. He didn't want to create a scene in front of the guests, so he ate it! :-) Good luck. I'll come to FWM and eat fish with you - we can stink up the office together!

Dont you love those moments? I can totally relate being married to a chef, I've cooked a few things where, its not getting eaten. They appreciate the effort right?

Im the same way. Not a big fish fan but Im trying to like it more. Try these out (they're all I can muster up the willpower to eat so far):
Sprouts Grocery Store has AMAZING Coconut crusted Tilapia. Although it seems like lots of guys hate coconut, so good luck there...

Umm... actually everything else Adam would still hate. Try the Tilapia. Hahaha.
