My Country Tis of Thee

I LOVE 4th of July. For as long as I can remember it’s been pretty much my favorite holiday. Low stress, beautiful weather, the beach, BBQ and fireworks, and celebrating what a magnificent county we live in, not to mention a day off work. What more could you ask for.
Thinking about the 4th of July this year, after our visit to Independence Hall in Philadelphia, I have an even great reverence for the men that fought for our freedom and wrote such important prose.
I do remember from our tours in Philadelphia, that the Declaration of Independence was not in fact signed by all members of the Continental congress on July 4th, 1776, but rather it was August 2nd, 1776. They do say the text was finalized on July 4th, but not all members agreed with it, nor were present on July 4th. Regardless, I love the celebration of country and freedom that 4th of July brings! What lucky people we are!
