What we've been up to in the evenings in Vietnam

So in addition to wheelchairs we've been able to visit some of the other Giving it Back to Kids programs in the evenings here in Vietnam.

This included a visit to a girls house called "the ligthhouse"  Here they take girls who are struggling and in danger of heading down a troubled road and give them hope.  They help them get back to school and understand more about emotional health.  There were just 3 girls at the house when we visited, but all three were just beautiful and I loved being able to tell them that.

We also visited the "Father's House."  This is a home for unwed mothers.  It is quite shameful in Vietnam to be pregnant or have kids outside of wedlock and these woman can really struggle in society here.  This home offers them and their children a safe haven where they are cared for and loved.  They are given opportunities to gain further education and get placed in jobs.  Meeting them and their children was a true joy.

One evening we went to Hi Cho Orphanage.  There we had a pizza party with the 20 kids who have a safe and comfortable place to call home.  Many of these children have been abandoned or were street kids after their parents went to jail.  There are some heartbreaking stories, but each of them has a little glimmer of hope in this home where they are educated and loved.

This is Hein, I fell in love with her, she clinged to me and made sure I was next to her.  Isn't she beautiful!

We got to take the kids out for ice cream too!  A special treat!

My heart is so full, this has been an amazing trip and we still have 4 more days!
