A little more London

We were pretty exhausted after our first full day in London, but we had so much more to see.  We were lucky enough to have the sun come out for the better part of Friday!  It was a beautiful day and we saw so many beautiful thing.

We started the day off walking through Hyde Park which was basically just a couple blocks from our hotel.  I am sure the park has a lot more to offer in the summer months, but it still is a great space and as a active person I really loved seeing that even in 35 degree weather the citizens of London were out in full swing, running, biking and walking through the park.

We headed to Trafalgar Square ready see a park full of pigeons.  Only when we got there there was a large sign up that basically said DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS!  Not exactly the ode to Mary Poppins I would expect, but I certainly understand.  Pigeons are nasty little birds and I'm not the type to want to feed them and take the chance of getting pooped on, so I wasn't too disappointed.

We then ventured into the National Gallery and enjoyed another great art museum.  Not to mention the museum itself is quite stunning inside, I loved the decor, the ceilings in each room and was very impressed with this free activity!
We decided it was time to venture into a few more city squares and markets today and walked through the Chinatown region of the city, which is basically just Chinese restaurant after Chinese restaurant, we then hopped on the tube over to Covent Gardents.  Such a charming area with lots of street performers, a great little market and just a nice scene overall.

We walked around for a long while, stopped for a bite to eat then decided to make our way over to a few more city squares.  Piccadilly Circus being the first stop, which was another nice area and we found our way to a store a friend recommended called Fortnum and Mason.  Oh they had such pretty things in that shop.  I loved it.  But it was sooo expensive.  We browsed and ooh and awwed and then journeyed on.

Looking at a map we saw that the famous Harrods didn't seem too far, so we decided we'd walk.  Save a little money by not taking the tube and just kind of get lost.  Well... Harrods was A LOT further than it looked  and by the time we got there both Adam and I were pooped.  We just wanted to find a place to sit down.  But the store was packed and if you wanted to sit down that would mean you'd have to buy something to eat.  We had talking about having afternoon tea while in London but after seeing prices of what that costs, we're talking like $50/ person at a couple places that were recommended, we decided we would skip it, since Adam doesn't like tea, nor the idea of having to pay $50 each to experience it, we decided we'd splurge at the Harrods Ice Cream Parlor.  Sure it was 40 degrees outside, but it was warm in the store and ice cream sounded good to me.  We definitely splurged on this sundae, I think after the tax and tip it came out to be about $25 USD!  We're both so cheap, but to be able to sit down and refuel it was worth it!

Luckily we walked a lot, we had all this to burn off!
After our visits to the many city parks, squares and shopping areas we were both beat!  We decided to head back to the hotel and we both took a solid hour or so nap.

Everyone kept telling us that while in London just stick to eating Indian food, so I we looked on yelp for Indian places close to our hotel and found a great place.  Roti Chai.  It was delicious!  We got a bunch of small dishes and shared.  A great way to end a great day!

I can't believe you walked from F&M to Harrods?! You crazy guys!!! I'm loving the photos, and that ice cream sundae does look amazing! That was the sundae of a lifetime - how many people have had that opportunity?! Although, I'm sure with each bite I'd be thinking "this cost $1.17!" :-)

Love reading about your trip. I can't wait to have Indian food there when I go in October - every day all day long since it'll be just my mom and I (and Oliver) and we all love Indian!

Looking forward to reading more...
