I can tell you that getting a college degree was not easy for me, I struggled a lot with self esteem issues and never felt like I was living up to the demands BYU can place on a young 20 year old female. However getting that education has blessed me so much now, and I am so thankful for everyone who supported me along the way. In my last year at BYU I added a minor in International Development to my curriculum, and that has made all the difference. Studying International Development convinced me that going into the Non-Profit World was where I needed to be. So when I graduated, those were the only jobs I sought out. There just so happened to be a small grass roots organization in Costa Mesa, CA that was hiring an administrative assistant. Seeing that I had very little work experience I was going to take what I could get and you have to start somewhere right, most of the positions I interviewed for were in some clerical area. Long story short I began my career at Free Wheelchair Mission in August of 2005, as an administrative assistant. What a journey it has been. When I was hired, I was the 6th person to work for Free Wheelchair Mission and the lowest in the pecking order. Just over 3 years later there are 18 people on staff and I have been here longer than anyone, besides our president, Don Schoendorfer, who I am sure I will blog about later. I was promoted to Program Manager just 11 months after I started and have been in this position for over 2 year and have just loved it! It hasn’t all been perfect, there has been plenty of ups and downs, but in the end it’s been amazing. In an effort not to bore you all I will end this blog for now, but it this is just the beginning of my blogging on Free Wheelchair Mission. http://www.freewheelchairmission.org/. Here are a few pictures of me doing my job….

You're such a great little big sister. I miss you, come visit me in Romania. And bring some wheelchairs!!!
i love that you're blogging Whitney! sometimes (as a mother of 2 who can rarely get out of the house) blogging is my favorite thing...i know, it's pathetic, but it's true :-) I love reading what the people that I love write about...the written word gives you such an insight into a person--ok. I'm done now.
really.
love you!
