Because our Ward Christmas Party was on Saturday we went to help decorate on Friday night and worked hard to transform the cultural hall!
Then Saturday morning, we along with many others, went out to get our Christmas tree. It was almost our first and last Christmas tree, however. You see, we had a little trouble with the whole, “getting the tree to stand up straight” thing. We had tried and failed about 5 times, and I was just so frustrated! It was awful, especially since I love Christmas and decorating for it and doing the tree. So to have my decorating session start off with a crooked tree was very upsetting to me. So, what did we do… what any normal person would do… call mom.. Yes I called my mom, and it was Mom to the rescue. She’s so wonderful; she just told me she’d be right over to help. Next thing I know, she’s here and our tree is standing up straight! And she even came with a new ornament in hand! My mom really is the best. Not only has she provided us with a new ornament for our first tree, but for my birthday she gave me something she had been working on all year. A cross stitched, nativity advent calendar. It’s so adorable, I just love it! She worked so hard on it, and thought she was finally going to get to keep it for herself, but sure enough she gave it to me. I love it! Thanks Mom!
So we got the tree up, got the rest of the decorations out and put lights up on the outside. Then we were off to help with the Ward Christmas Party which was a lot of fun, and we had a great time. We love being on the activities committee. We came home from the party and I opened the door and there were Roses sitting on our table! Adam had snuck them in there when we were leaving and he intentionally forgot to get something and went back inside and put the Roses out. So they were sitting there when we got home. Now the reason for the roses, well, you see, since Adam has been at USC getting his MBA, he like all other USC students has become very devoted to the football team. Last year when USC made the Rose Bowl, Adam brought me Roses and told me that every time USC makes a Bowl game I’d be getting something. Roses for a Rose Bowl, Sugar for a sugar bowl… you get the pictures. So yesterday when USC beat UCLA they secured their spot in the Rose Bowl!
Here are the lovely Roses to prove it...
Our tree in all its glory

Congratulations on your first Christmas tree!! It looks amazing!
White lights was a good choice. The best choice, really. See you in 9 days!
That's a cute tradition! I should make Sterling get me something every time OU makes it into a bowl game! That would be awesome. I also love your tree :0)
Guess what?! We have a matching advent calendar- our fabulous moms must be sisters! Whitney- I'm 10 times worse than you- I call my mom about EVERYTHING!
your mom really IS the best! Gotta love that Carol!
Do you know what? Ryan and I have been married 5 years, have 2 children and still have never bought a xmas tree. Weird, huh? But we're always at someone else's house so it seems so pointless to go through all the effort...yours is making me wish we had one though. I love it! You did a good job decorating it! We'll be happy to see it in real life--and won't it be fun to keep my babies out of all the ornaments :-) ha ha! Love you!
