The Bank of Justice is Not Bankrupt

Today I honor one of my heroes. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. I am so thankful for this man. One of my favorite things to study and learn about over the years has been the Civil Rights Movement in the U.S. I am thankful this man was courageous enough to stand up for freedom and remained faithful throughout his life that God would open doors in this country for equality.

The excitement this country is beaming with at this time of the inauguration of our first African American President just adds to the gratitude that I have for Martin Luther King. I decided several years ago that every Martin Luther King Jr. Day I would watch or read Dr. King’s "I have a dream" speech given during the March on Washington, as well as read one of his other addresses given. I admire the non violent tactics that MLK used. I respect that he never gave up hope and led 250,000 people during the March on Washington on August 28, 1963 in a peaceful manner to express the desires of his heart and hope for equality. I love that under his list of influences that Jesus Christ is number one.
MLK was the first non-president and African American to be honored with a monument at the National Mall in Washington D.C.. He was the youngest recipient ever to receive the Nobel Peace Prize. He died for his cause and I honor his legacy. This morning as I read a speech he gave called “Loving Your Enemies” http://www.writespirit.net/inspirational_talks/political/martin_luther_king_talks/loving_your_enemies/
My respect for this man has once again been lifted to a new level for the trials he faced and the faith that he held to through it all.
