On Monday I was able to get out from behind my computer and do some hands on work. You see, we, Free Wheelchair Mission, that is, has been doing everything possible to figure out the best way to send wheelchairs into Haiti to help provide some relief. We manufacture our wheelchairs out of China, however we do keep a supply here for events, marketing and across the border distributions. We had about 500 wheelchairs here. I found an organization, Direct Relief International in Santa Barbara, who could take 200 of the 500 we have here and get them on with some of the air freight they’re sending into Haiti. Exciting stuff, but we had to go and get it all ready. As we worked for about 4 hours palletizing all the boxes and getting it ready to go out to Haiti, I couldn’t help be feel so grateful that I am not one of the people in Haiti that is actually in need of receiving one of those wheelchairs. I can only imagine the devastation felt by the people there, and while certainly wheelchairs will be a gift to them, the people that are now finding themselves placed in a wheelchair, probably never imagined that 2 weeks ago they would ever need one.
Two weeks ago I wouldn’t have guessed I’d be spending a weekend with my sister in the hospital, then taking my dad to the hospital 4 days later and attending my Grandfather’s funeral, only to come home get in my car and have my check engine light go on, and get yet another cold. But I am grateful for these trials as the have renewed my faith, and humbled me to lean on my Savior and seek out the Comforter. I am grateful that I am just the visitor, and provider, not the one being visited nor receiving.
I am blessed to have a job I love and work with great people, here are a few co-workers and volunteers after we finished up all the packing!
I am blessed to have such an amazing family, who came from near and far to remember Pa. What a blessing it was to have him on this earth for so long.

That's so cool that you were able to get wheelchairs there. I know they are needing lots of med supplies.
It was good to see you last night. It's been a while since we've really hung out.
