I ended summer with a wonderful trip up to Vancouver, Washington for the long Labor Day weekend. My brother Ryan and his lovely wife Maria welcomed their third little boy into their family back on July 5th. Seth Blaine Billen is too precious for words. He is just the sweetest little boy who is always willing to give you a smile. I loved meeting him and snuggling and kissing him, he really is just so, so perfect.
Of course I spent plenty of quality time with big brothers Gavin and Marshall. We played, and played, and played. These boys are so funny and always up for adventure. They love their super heroes, it was quite entertaining to see them dress up and pretend to be Batman, or Superman, or Spider Man, or Iron Man, or Captain America. They were lucky enough to have a swing set installed, which we played on for many hours.
We managed to have a few really fun outings. A visit to a wildlife refuge and to Cottonwood Beach to swim and enjoy these last few days of the warm summer sun, were all thoroughly enjoyed.
My favorite part of the trip though was on Sunday when we were able to go to church and witness Ryan give Seth his blessing. Ryan did a beautiful job and Seth sure belongs to a family who loves him and wants the best for him. I love that Adam was able to participate in the blessing ordinance along with a few members of Maria's family, it is such a privilege to be surrounded by these men who honor their priesthood. Maria's parents, grandparents, and her brother Travis' family were all able to come down to Vancouver to be there for the blessing as well. My cousin Russel who recently moved to Portland was also able to come. It was a great day and I was so overwhelmed with the amount of love that was in the chapel when little Seth was receiving his blessing. What a lucky kid.
Of course I had fun snapping pictures of Seth and hanging out with those boys, but I also loved seeing my brother, who I miss dearly and don't get to see enough, along with his wonderful wife. They sure have a beautiful family, and I can't wait to see them again at Christmas!
