Happy Birthday Little Sister

Today my little sister Sarah turns 22. She may not ever read this, but for all you that do I just want you to know how much I love her.

Sarah has been filling our home with sunshine and love since she was a little girl. She sparkles everywhere she goes. Most people think that she is older than me, she is quite a bit taller and has always looked older than she is. When she was in 8th grade, just 13, and I was 17, a senior in high school, and we were at my sister Julie’s wedding, everyone thought she was older than me. I was a bit jealous of her for this reason, I wanted people to know that I was older, alas, she still looks older than me, and I am still a bit jealous.

We have definitely had our fair share of sisterly fights, but that has been one of my favorite things about getting older and entering adulthood; the fights have stopped and we really just do our best to understand and support one another despite the differences we still might have. There’s no more feuding over “borrowing” clothes, or who’s turn it is to use the computer or to clean the bathroom, there’s just love.

So today I hope that Sarah feels the love that I have for her and knows how thankful I am she came into this world and completed our family! Happy Birthday!

Yeah, it is definitely funny how all those sibling rivalries sorta fall by the wayside with age, living far away from one another, and so on.

Someday Sarah will be jealous of YOU for looking younger, believe that.
