I received this email from my sweet husband today –
I have checked the Alaska website everyday waiting for first
class seats to be available for upgrade for my parents and today they released
two seats so they got upgraded both ways. That’s nice for them.
Seriously, what a good son.
Six weeks of checking so his parents could enjoy the luxury that is
first class (they’ve never had it before) on their flights to and from Hawaii.
Just last week Adam came home from work telling me how he
was on the phone with Delta for 40 minutes in order to get his parents
compensated for the four hour delay they had on their flight to LAX in
February.
And Delta gave them two $50
vouchers.
Part of the reason he does these things is because he really
loves the thrill of getting things for “free.”
But still he’s done these kinds of things countless times for other
people too.
He’s given lots to airline credits/ miles to his sister and offered
them to my family as well. He’s always
willing to help people book the Hyatt with his secret code that can get you a
room for a great deal. He’s given up his
free rental car days for several of my family members to use and booked hotels
with his priceline skills at unbeatable prices for tons of family.
I’ve come to realize Adam really does get a lot of joy out
of helping people and making them happy.
Another example – He had four free first class upgrades on Alaska
Airlines (Due to all the travel he did to
Seattle
when he worked for Boeing) But they were expiring in December of 2013.
We had no plans to fly and nor did anyone
else we knew (on Alaska Airlines anyway) but instead of just letting those
upgrades expire, he went to some online board and found a family of four that
was going to Hawaii for Christmas and offered them his free first class
upgrades.
So some random strangers from
San Diego were pleasantly
surprised.
I hope when we’re old
Troy
looks out for us the way Adam does his parents, and mine for that matter.
I’m so thankful for his fine example and love
for others around him.
What a nice guy I
married.
What a lucky girl I am.

He is a great guy!
Aww, what a sweet post Whitney! What a gift to be married to a generous, thoughtful guy! I'm with you in hoping that Oliver also has a similar outlook in looking out for us in 30 years or so...!
And I love how Adam rocks all of these freebies and upgrades.
