Things to remember

Sometimes it seems like these past six month have just flown by and other times it seems like life before Troy was decades ago.  Really, it's hard to remember what life was like before having this happy little man in our lives, so I want to be sure and write down some things in this current stage, because I know once he starts walking and talking I'll forget all about the baby stage.

We are still loving life as a family of three and Troy is just a happy boy.  He's pretty much been in the 50th percentile for both height and weight since his two month check up and we're happy to have it that way.

Troy had his first plane ride when he was five and half months old and did awesome, which was nice for me since Adam didn't come with us. We were very lucky that we had open seats next to us on both flights!  However,  he wasn't so great at sleeping in unfamiliar places - let's just say neither me nor him got much sleep while visiting my brother and his family in Vancouver, WA, but we had a great time seeing everyone.

He's been eating solid foods since he was about five and half months as well.  He loves food.  His favorite thing so far seems to be carrots.  I love watching him try new things, so far he's liked just about everything from spinach to applesauce, he didn't take so well to avocado, yogurt and cottage cheese, so we'll wait on those a little longer.  He's done great with the spoon and is getting the hang of sippy cups.

Adam let him hold the spoon....

Troy's become a pretty routine baby.  He is napping pretty much on a consistent basis, taking two 1 to 2 hour naps, and is ready for bed by 7:30pm every night.  However, he's still not the best sleeper when it comes to staying asleep at night.  I usually feed him at least one more time around 11pm, and hope he stays asleep until 7am...but often times he wakes up one or two more times for a bit, but we've just let him cry and get himself back to sleep by sucking his thumb (most nights anyway)

We've been enjoying going to different parks every week and enjoying sunny southern California.  He had his first trip to the zoo, and time in the pool, he's definitely a fan of being outdoors!

Troy was sitting up on his own pretty well at about five and half months as well.  He loves to just sit and play.  We had a bag of plastic Easter eggs and he could play with those all day long.  He loves to look in the mirror and give himself high fives.  A good game of peek-a-boo will always get him laughing.  He rarely cries unless he's tired or hungry and he's sure to smile at you if you give him a smile.

He's not really interested in crawling, but I am sure that will come soon enough.  It's so much fun to watch him grow up.  Adam is always sad about how big he's getting, but it's just so much fun to watch their littler personalities develop and how amazing life really is.  This baby stuff is pretty amazing, but is certainly has its challenges too, I feel like a completely different person.  I see the world so differently and am so thankful for the new perspective that being a mom has taught me.
